Death claims Mrs. J. Meyer at Dillon home
Mrs Magdalene Meyer wife of John F Meyer long time Dillon resident died last Wednesday after a brief illness at her east Dillon home. A native of Switzerland she came to the United States in 1911 and worked as a housekeeper and hotel operator in the Big Hole basin before moving to Dillon with her husband. She leaves a sister Mrs Emma Grandleonard of Long Beach Calif a nephew Ernest Golay of Wisdom and several other nephews in California. Funeral services were held Saturday at Brundage chapel with Rev Edward R Leivestad officiating and interment in Mountain View cemetery. Pallbearers were Jules Wenger Frank Fidler Wendell Jardine Leonard Schulz Fred Bridenstine and John Krause.

John J. Lewis aged 62 died Thursday night at his North Washington home after a long illness. Born March 19, 1886 in Pickens South Carolina he homesteaded near Apex in 1915 after ranch work in Beaverhead county. Survived by wife Elizabeth Steers a brother Arthur S. Lewis three sisters in Pickens and a sister in law. Funeral Tuesday at the chapel with Rev Gunnar Steffenrud of the Assembly of God officiating. Interment Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers named Williams Tritt William Hail William Murty Ross Ayers Jack Thie and Jack Hunt.

Injured in crash near city barrow pit
Mrs. Tom Mihlberger suffered a broken arm and multiple cuts and bruises after a truck sideswiped by another vehicle veered into a barrow pit on the highway a mile south of the city. She was treated at Barret hospital where she stayed for several days. Mr Mihlberger was not seriously injured.

Rites Held Friday for War Victim Wellington
The cremated remains of Pfc. Roy E. Wellington arrived in Dillon from Ogden last Friday morning. Funeral services were held that afternoon at Brundage chapel under Beaverhead post of the American Legion with full military rites at Mountain View cemetery. Wellington, son of Mrs. Isabelle Wellington, died in a Japanese prison camp on February 7, 1943 after being captured at Corregidor. Dillon business houses closed during the funeral hour.

Don Shaw of Big Hole Basin Dies at 74
Don Shaw 74, longtime resident of the Big Hole basin, died at Barrett hospital after a short illness. Born September 9, 1874 in Dixon Iowa, he came to Beaverhead County in 1889 and lived as a woodsman and ranch worker in the region. He never married and is survived by a niece Mrs Tom Donman of Manhattan. Funeral services were held at Brundage chapel with Rev J Thompson Baker of the Presbyterian church presiding.

Saddle Mare Shot Wounded Near White’s New Home
