Joseph Irving Dies Suddenly in Idaho Camp

Joseph Maxwell Irving a 47 year old Scotsman and World War I veteran died suddenly at Roberts Idaho from chronic gastric ulcers after a sheep loading trip. He served with the 68th battalion Canadians, fought at Vimy Ridge and Regina trench, survived shrapnel and gas, later moved to Montana with his wife Margaret Banks Irving. He is survived by siblings in Canada and Scotland.

D. A. R. State Meeting Honors In Dillon With Trail Markers

The first annual state meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Dillon concluded with unveiling of markers designating the Lewis and Clark trail at the depot and two nearby bridges. Delegates from ten chapters attended as officers were elected for next year and Great Falls selected as the 1925 meeting site. A Beaverhead American Legion post gift and a banquet highlighted the event amid social sessions at the Normal College.

Gray family of Millpotint reports their son Guy Gray junior suffered a broken forearm in two places when he fell from a horse last week. He is now in Dillon recovering, accompanied by his mother.

Good Government Club Session Highlights

The Good Government club held a meeting on October 16 with Senator Haz elbaker speaking on the commission form of government for county and city. Geo R Baker contributed a state adjusted compensation bill paper, and Mrs Martha Martin praised the rest room committee of Mrs Lorenzo Cushing Mrs Alma Harwood and Mrs Vachon. New furniture and pictures were donated and magazines requested for the rest room. The Wisdom Women's club report was presented and the club voted to join Beaverhead Federated clubs.

Fire in Medlen block prompts hurried hotel run

An alarm reported a fire in a Medlen block room caused by an oil stove midday Monday. Firefighters arrived quickly, extinguished the blaze, and the apparatus crew rushed to the Metlen hotel.

Frank Schubaur, Butte hunter, paid a steep price after a justice court found him guilty of killing three sage hens out of season. He and three companions were arrested near Brownes after deputy game warden Tom Edmunds arrived. Schubaur admitted fault and was fined $200. the others were dismissed.

Noted Lakeview rancher Britt Miller ends life in Centennial valley

Britt Miller a prominent Lakeview rancher and hunting lodge operator in the Centennial valley killed himself with a .22 pistol at his ranch. Discovered by visiting friends Monday, an inquest was held and his funeral followed in Lakeview. Miller, born in Deer Lodge, spent his life in Montana and left three brothers and several sisters as survivors.

Rachel Smith hosted her girl friends after a Friday pop meeting. They spent the evening by the fireplace with popcorn and marshmallows, shared fortunes, danced to piano music, and enjoyed refreshments. Hugh McCafee paid twenty five dollars after pleading guilty in justice court to trapping muskrats before November first. Deputy game warden Tom Edmunds arrested him Tuesday in Jake's canyon. the violation cost him hides and a fine. The notice urges trappers to obtain the game laws and follow regulations.
