Edward 8 Duff longtime Dillon resident and City Drug Co contributor died at home in Los Angeles last Wednesday after months of illness. Born March 4 1880 in Allegheny Pa he moved to Dillon in 1909 later pursued business interests before leaving in 1921. Beaverhead sheep quota up 2000 head while cattle purchases halt. Interest in Girl Scouts Grows in Dillon
In Dillon the Girl Scout movement gains momentum with two Brownie packs and two troops, about 50 members, and a community committee that meets monthly to recruit leaders and plan fundraising. Last year’s drive raised about 100 dollars. this year they expect at least double and note national dues were under 40 dollars. Three quarters of the funds will aid Dillon Brownies and Scouts.

Hunters Urged to Inspect Deer for New Foot-Worm Disease
E D Sandvng, acting forest supervisor of the Beaverhead national forest, asks Beaverhead and Madison county hunters to examine deer and elk kills for a possible new disease termed deer foot-worm. Hunters should skin feet to hoof to check under the skin near the ankle for numerous white, tough worms eight to ten inches long.

Women eligible to join the American Association of University Women are invited to the next regular meeting Monday night October 29 at Miss Jean Bishop's home. Trio Arrested in Jordan on Local Theft Charge
Pat Ryan Ed Emery and John Emery were arrested in Jordan Montana for theft from Woods Livestock ranch north of Dillon last month. They were moved to Miles City jail then brought to Dillon. loot belonged to Dan Smith. Deputies said some items matched looted articles and Ed Emery and Ryan confessed.

An open season for bull elk is planned in Beaverhead County from November 11 through November 15, inclusive. The hunt excludes state game and bird preserves and applies to the area between the Divide to Dillon highway, the Dillon to Jackson highway, and the Wisdom-Fanning corridor, with boundaries described by local roads.

Chinese Cook Hurt At Thompson Ranch Bell Mishap
Qin Lin, 54, a Chinese cook at the Henry Thompson ranch near Dell, was seriously injured when the bell clapper fell on him while he rang for a noon meal. He was taken to Barrett hospital in Dillon where doctors said the metal ball did not kill him.
