The Beaverhead county roster shows 39 property owners paying more than $1,000 in taxes this year. John Peterson leads with $3,000 plus county assessed value, and Oregon Short Line contributes $78,801.68 while overall taxes show decreases from last year.
A large crowd is expected tonight at Hartwig Theatre as Republicans of Beaverhead County convene to hear the GOP governor candidate. Voters will discuss campaign issues and participate in the meeting.
Republicans from all sections of Beaverhead county plan a campaign rally at the Hartwig theatre in Dillon. Wellington D. Ran kin, candidate for governor, and Mark D. Fitzgarrald, Republican candidate for representative from the western district, will speak after a program of music. The event begins at 8 o clock.
Beaverhead County lists 39 taxpayers with over 1 000 assessed, led by Ayenne at 78 810.68 and Poindexter & Orr Livestock Co at 4 595.12. Major public utilities are taxed separately with Montana Power Co at 517.54 and Oregon Short Line R R at 4 801.64, while First National Bank of Dillon drops 7 percent after the ruling.
Melrose youth George Slater was injured Saturday night when the car he rode in with Cecil Butner overturned near Reichle on the way home from a dance. Slater suffered a deep head wound and received first aid before being taken to Barrett hospital, from which he was discharged the next day. Butner, the driver, escaped unharmed.
AMUEL B. SHESER, prominent rancher of Horse Prairie, was killed Sunday morning when a team of horses bolted while hitching to a wagon. He sustained a fractured skull and death was believed instantaneous. details unclear whether he was thrown or kicked. (Continued on page 8)
Funeral services for J. E. Morse and H. Dewey Cashmore were held in Dillon with interment at Mountain View cemetery. Reverends H N Tragitt officiated at St James Episcopal church and the Masonic temple services were under Masons and the Beaverhead American Legion. Pallbearers from Dillon and Helena attended as hundreds gathered to honor the esteemed Dillon man.

Frank A Hazelbaker Republican lieutenant governor candidate predicts Erbert Hoover will carry Montana by a surprising majority and that every candidate on the Republican state ticket will be elected. He spoke after an extended state tour covering the High Line district from Hill to Sheridan and through Dawson Terry Miles City Harlowton Lewistown Great Falls Conrad Shelby Browning Cut Bank Chouteau and surrounding towns before reaching Helena. He avoided quoting definite figures, noting it is his policy.
Terry F. C. Browning announced after returning from Butte that Dillon Elks will have a lodge of their own within the next sixty days. He conferred with Murray Hulburt grand exalted ruler of the BPOE and was accompanied by Albert Baker, a Dillon member.

H Cole sparked the comeback with an 80 yard interception return for a touchdown and Davis anchored a stout defense. The clash featured repeated stalls near the goal line and clutch plays in the fourth period.
Harry Somler returned yesterday after tending a Shrine meeting in Idaho Falls. The event drew attendees from local units and highlighted the group’s community service efforts.
