Representatives from five clubs will attend a district convention of the Business and Professional Women's clubs of southwestern Montana in Dillon Sunday. Luella Stickney announces the plan and chairs the committee. Attending clubs include Butte Helena Anaconda Lodge and Dillon with a breakfast at 9 a.m. at Andrus grill followed by a round table discussion.
City 4 H club directors announce Beaverhead county 4 H leaders plan reorganizing groups and forming new clubs. A meeting at 2 p m in the council rooms will discuss programs budgets and reorganization with county and local teachers and volunteers listed as sponsors and attendees.
The eighth district of the Episcopal Women’s Auxiliary of Montana will hold its meeting tomorrow in Dillon. Delegates from Twin Bridges Sheridan Virginia City Ennis Jeffers the Big Hole basin and other areas will attend. The day opens with a 12:30 corporate communion at St. James Episcopal Church followed by a 1:30 luncheon at the guild hall with Mrs. Frank Haskins of Butte, state president, as guest speaker.
Mrs. Henrietta Bean, wife of Centennial rancher Milton Bean, died at home after a long illness. Born April 2, 1863 in Tama county Iowa, she moved to Kansas as a child, then to Montana in 1881. The couple married in Forsythe in 1883 and settled in Centennial valley in 1886. She mothered 12 children, with nine living, plus 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Surviving are her husband and children.
The Dillon Girl Scout council held its regular meeting Monday night at Mrs. A. F. Waldorf's home. Members listed include Mrs. Waldorf and several other local volunteers, with mother representatives named as well.
Jackson Oct 22 Special The Jackson Friendship club met at Mrs Elvin Petersons home for a pleasant gathering. A vote of support was given to Rev Orval Schmidt's successor. An offering of 6 10 was received and the afternoon's proceeds totaled 13 40. Members and guests listed include Dan Pendergast John Hutchens Hattie Bates S J Johnson Margaret Loss Fred Hirschy Betsy Claemon John Johnson Sam Peterson Lena Nelson Roy Zebarth Mark Clemon John Wharton.
Local residents attended the Montana Farmers meeting in Lewistown where Be av erhead County delegates participated. Lee Schuler placed third in the convention speaking contest.Meanwhile, Dillon construction progresses on the new federal building at Idaho and Sebree, with foundations done and floors topped, walls to follow before bad weather.

Beaverhead Federation of Women’s Organizations announces semi annual convention next Saturday. The program begins at 10:86 Saturday morning in the Community Hall with an afternoon session. Speakers include Prof. Francis Sayre of the School of Mines and Prof. Robert Clark of Montana State Normal College.
Beaverhead National Forest recorded 32 fires in 1936 with 21 man caused, up from 17 in 1934. Causes included neglected campfires and discarded cigarettes. about 50 acres burned. Last season cleared by Oct 15 in Hecla district. letters seek compliance next year.
Thomas E. Luebben was re elected chairman of the Beaverhead Red Cross chapter. The new staff includes Lee R. Light as vice chairman and roll call chairman, with Norah Con telley as secretary treasurer. The group plans a relief campaign for Helena earthquake sufferers and lists many officer posts including Nell Doyle junior county chairman and Luella Stickney public health.
Dillon officials W B Hartwig and George M Gosman shared tales of the Baer Louis bout and the motor journey to the scene at a Dillon Rotary Club dinner. They described a 2676 mile, 69 hour trek with car costs under 60 dollars, noting traffic control in New York City and colorful driving experiences. Gosman added remarks on fight reporting techniques that made world news round by round.
Beaverhead county Red Cross chairman Thomas B. Luebben received an appeal for aid for Helena quake victims. Helena suffered severe damage with over 300 destitute families and many buildings wrecked. Local readers urged bedding and immediate relief as Montana faced a record tremor sequence.
Beaverhead high school Beavers, 0 produce 0 loss after St Peters 24 0 defeat, meet Jefferson County high at fairgrounds Saturday. Key players Reeves Hoffmann Lee uncertain as Beavers cope with injuries and illness. Deer and duck seasons opened locally with sparse game and fewer hunters.
Plans for a social session after the regular Dillon Elks meeting were announced for Tuesday night November 12 at the judge’s regular meeting. The district deputy will visit during the business session and an initiation ceremony will be featured. A dancing party follows with refreshments. Elks invited to bring a friend.
Mr and Mrs Blair Sprinkle traveled to Butte on Saturday to visit Mrs Martha Pyeatt the former's sister who is recovering from a recent operation.
Workers uncover a large subterranean chamber off the Shaffer brothers mine in Argenta district. The cave, found during tunnel work, is not fully explored and rumors place it near the size of Argenta’s distant caves. The discovery followed curiosity sparked by a small rock aperture.
The Dolphina at Montana State Normal College announced a two evening swim pageant at the Normal College pool on December 6 and 7. Twelve contestants will participate with captains Jennie Bovee Great Falls Gertrude Rooney Lewistown Mildred Spaberg Polson Barbara Lehwalder Butte. The assembly program featured a variety show directed by Miss Marjorie Tebeau with acts by Violette Olson Ruth Phelps Genevieve Dell no Marian Schmidt Mildred Spaberg Marguerite Collins and Jean Graham.
The special edition of the Examiner, marking Eliels department store fifty-fifth year, pleased southwestern Montana residents. Copies were sent to Beaverhead County, with many requesting extra copies for relatives and friends across the state and nation. The firm was praised for its initiative and effort in publishing the feature.
There will be no open season on Chinese pheasants or Hungarian partridges in Beaverhead County this year, according to information received by Louis Schmittroth, secretary of the Beaverhead Sportsmen’s club.
