In Beaverhead County the top taxpayers exceed $1000 with thirteen individuals and firms shown. The county total tax is $143,894.19 with over $16,000 directed to the state. The list includes Edie Maggie and J W Edie among others, with many entries across individuals, banks, and companies reflecting the county’s heavy property holdings.
Mary L. McCartney, former seventh grade teacher in Dillon's public schools, died Sunday evening at Murray hospital in Butte after a lingering tubercular illness. She had returned to Dillon at the start of the term, fell ill, and was sent to Butte for treatment where she passed away with her sister and brother at her side.
The Dillon city case against Roscoe C Johnson for disturbing the peace in Centennial restaurant drew wide attention as Johnson accused Officer Lovell of grafting twenty dollars. Lovell denied the claim, two witnesses corroborated his alibi, and Chief Stone testified, leading to Johnson's discharge.
