Montana State Normal and Eastern Montana Normal Billings played to a scoreless tie at War Memorial field. Dillon pressed to the Yellowjackets' 12 yard line in the second quarter but failed to score. Billings finished with 121 rushing yards to Dillon's 101 and ten first downs to six. Next conference game is against Butte Orediggers at Dillon on Oct 23.

Coyote Shot with a Shovel at Grandview Heights
B V Green working at Grandview Heights east of town last Saturday afternoon killed a chicken stealing coyote with a shovel. The animal had infiltrated the yard during building repairs and was spotted entering the chicken house before Greene clubbed it across the head as it fled.

Toys Sent to Prison for Repair Drive
A truck loaded with used toys was taken to Deer Lodge by Frank Watkins to aid the Montana state prison workshop. The drive, sponsored by the Q and A Study club, aimed to repair toys for underprivileged children but time limited further collection. inmates have already repaired over 1,700 items and welcome more supplies such as fur scraps and small hardware.

Death of Albert Berry Coon Revealed in Reno
Former resident Albert Berry Coon aged 85 died September 8 in Reno Nevada. He and wife Arcelia Mast, sister of Carl Mast of this city, were married in Dillon in 1890 and lived here for years before moving to Nevada.

Beaverhead County Commissioners Hold October Meeting
Regular monthly session of the Beaverhead board of county commissioners met October 6 7 and 8 1947 with Commissioners Scott Hirschy and Stahl and Clerk Buckingham present. The clerk was ordered to advertise sale of a steel room bridge and metal including 45 12 inch beams for auction November 4 at 11 am and bids for a 20 ton pull trailer. Two purchase contracts were signed with State Bank and Trust for unpaid balances on Caterpillar equipment with terms of 24 and 36 months respectively.

The tenth annual Montana Hereford show and sale in Dillon drew buyers from across the state. Top price hit $2,000 with an overall average of about $537. Bid by W. S. Tash of Polaris, Anxiety Diamond 50th topped the open class at $2,000, while Cedar Domino 1st sold for $1,400. Futurity bulls averaged $573. Man Arraigned on Forgery Charge in Local Court
William K. Phillips was arraigned in the justice court on a forgery charge. A preliminary hearing was set for Oct. 21 by Judge Louis Stahl. Bonds were set at 1000 but not furnished. Phillips allegedly cashed a fraudulent check at a Lima bar and was arrested in Pocatello after a wanted description circulated by the local sheriff. He waived extradition and was brought to Dillon by Sheriff Paul Temple.
