Attorney Kelly of Butte addresses large audience
Attorney Kelly argues against a broad gross proceeds tax on mines, detailing Montana tax structures. He cites Anaconda Copper Mining Company tax payments in 1921 1922 and 1928 1933 and compares them with other property taxes while urging thrift and fiscal restraint to avoid new burdens on citizens. He notes state revenue gains under prior administrations but a budget deficit as of June 30.
