Montana secretary of state reports 240 765 electors registered for the November 4 election across 56 counties and 1 535 precincts up from 211 560 registered for the August primary. Fire Prevention Topic At Weekly Rotary Lunch
The Dillon Rotary heard fire prevention talks from Dick Price secretary of the fire department and Tim Tash chief. Tash thanked local businessmen for helping the Fourth of July celebration and noted the 32 member department would grow with citizen cooperation. Price urged care to prevent fires and outlined prevention methods. McAdams and Parker from Chevrolet explained fire safety efforts by manufacturers and dealers. Mayor Roscoe Cornell presided.

Absent Voters Apply For Ballots In Beaverhead County
Scores of Beaverhead County voters who expect to be absent on election day have applied to County Clerk John H Baker for absent ballots. The official copy from the secretary of state has not yet been received so ballots cannot be printed until it arrives. It is expected the secretary of state will certify the copy soon and ballots will be printed and mailed to absent voters promptly.

Deer season opens today with limits and closures noted
