Memorial Windows for M. E. Church in Dillon

The Methodist Episcopal Church on Bannack and Washington gains four leaded glass memorial windows praised as the finest and most expensive in the state. The first honors Henry Cushing, others honor John and Mrs. Selway, and Mrs. Eunice Selway. a November memorial service will recount life histories. Also proposed are porch lights funded by residents with city electricity to improve Dillon’s darkness.

City Hall Site Bids Tabled During Monthly Council Session

City council with one absent member considered bids for city hall and fire department sites from four bidders. No action taken on site choices or lighting improvements while a porch light initiative gained public support for next meeting. Saloon licenses issued to four parties. A request for an arc light at Glendale and Nelson was referred to the street and alley committee.

Centennial Valley Cuts Madison's Taxes

Madison county tax book for 1911 shows total assessable property at 6,210,519 dollars with taxes due 18,210.82. This is 4,698,988 dollars less than last year due to Centennial Valley’s separation and attachment to Beaverhead. Although collections drop, county expenses also fall because Centennial territory is no longer part of Madison.

Former Dillon Lady Dead After Sudden Heart Trouble

Mrs. A C Hammond, longtime Dillon resident and wife of Pacific Express Co agent, died suddenly in Payette Idaho last Sunday morning from heart trouble. Born in Pennsylvania about 55 years ago, she moved to Montana and then Dillon with her husband, later ranching south of Dillon before moving to Payette. Funeral services are planned in Boise with interment beside her son. sister Mrs. George Jewell expresses sympathy.

Strollers Quartette to open Normal Entertainment Course in Dillon

On Friday October 18 at 8 30 pm the Strollers Quartette Concert Company will present the first of seven numbers in the Normal Entertainment Course at the Dillon normal auditorium. Acquittal in Embezzlement Case of Grourd at Divide

A Grourd, station agent for the Oregon Short Line at Divide, was acquitted at a preliminary examination before Justice Rhoades on embezzlement charges involving $1800 from the Lossi stage line. The district attorney will not pursue further. A civil suit for $5000 damages for alleged malicious prosecution is filed against the stage company and its directors.

Wanted men to attend Dillon church services

A First Presbyterian Church of Dillon calls for one hundred men to attend regular Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The pastor aims to preach a manly gospel, exalt Jesus Christ as the Brother of all men, and encourage friendship with Jesus Christ.
