John Dolan Dies Here Yesterday
John Dolan longtime Beaverhead county resident died yesterday morning at his home after being found in an alley behind the western part of town. He had been in poor health for over a year and had recently spent time in California with relatives in St Louis. Dolan came to the area in 1884 and worked for Poindexter and Orr ranch company before running a Dillon saloon for about twenty years, later operating a soft drink parlor after prohibition. Surviving relatives in St Louis and Prague are noted.

Strike Hard Rock Drilling Near Dillon Promising Formation

Draft horse trapped as cellar caves in Beaverhead lumber yard
A root cellar behind D A Galt’s residence on South Pacific Street collapsed under a draft horse from Beaverhead Lumber Company. About a dozen men tried ropes and hoisting to free the animal, which remained wedged between roof timbers. After a council of war the plan used the horse’s own movement to aid its lift.
