Townsend Superior mine proves steady producer in Broadwater
The Townsend Superior mine in Broadwater county, once idle, is now profitable under H. O. Miller and his late father’s heirs. Since 1893 it produced over 125000 dollars, with gold quartz ore yielding pockets of rich ore and occasional weeks worth 6000 dollars. The Big Six group reopened to mine iron oxide ore with gold, using open pit methods and a plant processing about 30 tons daily at roughly 10 dollars per ton.
