Beaverhead county's livestock market remains active with prices steady from last week as European wartime demand pushes up profits. Schulz rams from Sheridan led sales with a top $49 for a buck and high five head average of $46, while O A Schulz lambs averaged $26. Rain halted threshing and alfalfa harvest briefly but work to resume was expected. Mrs Lois Adah Patterson, 83, died in Dillon after long illness. funeral held at Lima Methodist Church with interment in Mountain View cemetery. She was born in Illinois in 1855 and moved west with her husband, building a ranching family before later moving to Salt Lake City. Beaverhead county high school unveils a spacious fireproof and earthquake resistant complex. The five buildings form one edifice with 15 classrooms a large study hall library auditorium and gym for 600 and 800 spectators respectively. The facility includes individual classrooms for teachers and a small theatre for band orchestra and public speaking.

Tirzah temple head Mrs. Charles Hewitt and officers visited the Dillon Daughters of the Nile club for an annual outing. A 1:30 luncheon followed a no-hostess entertainment at Mrs. T. E. Early migratory waterfowl season opens in Beaverhead
Hunters report a strong opening as the migratory waterfowl season began unexpectedly on Sunday in Beaverhead. Word from Senator Wheeler caused the date to move up to October 1 from October 22. The Beaverhead Sportsmen’s Association had favored the later date to ensure access when northbound birds arrive. After the first day, hundreds hunted, but local waterfowl stocks are expected to be better once northern birds join the flight southward.

Boyd Quick, 28, a Dillon resident, was seriously wounded when a shotgun fired accidentally by friend Elmer Devaney at a duck hunting outing on the Leslie Staudenmeyer ranch near Point of Rocks, 15 miles from Dillon. He was taken to Barrett hospital and was reported improving after a critical start.
