Telephone line expansion promises dividends for area

The Southern Montana Telephone company reports September receipts of 135 dollars and full completion of the Dillon to Bannack line. With Bell system arrangements, the service aims for rapid growth and potential dividends for stockholders capitalized at five thousand dollars. George Woodworth presides with A. L. Stone as vice president and F. A. Hazelbaker as secretary treasurer.

Fire Ravages Summit Hotel and Outbuildings at Monida

A major blaze last Thursday destroyed the Summit hotel the hotel annex and a cottage all owned by B H Paul at Monida. Loss estimated 15000 to 20000 dollars with about sixty percent insured. Paul not on site and plans temporary quarters for travelers as adjusters assess the damage.

The Murray Opens Sunday Cafe and Rooming House

T. J. Murray of Dillon has purchased the Elite Cafe from Tash and Lenkersdorfer who took over from Thos. Flemming. He will run a first-class family cafe and short order house on the premises and operate a rooming house on the upper floor after a full refit. A top chef from Butte will prepare meals. the venture, named The Murray, opens next Sunday and is expected to succeed.

Grant man marries Canadian Josie La Croix

William Paiment a noted Gorse Prairie rancher wed Josie La Croix of Canada. The couple plan a state honeymoon visiting Butte and Helena for the State Fair. Mrs Paiment lived near Butte twenty one years and learned of the marriage yesterday. The new bride formerly Mae Josie La Croix.

Stockmen Continue Battle Against Wolves in Local Bounty Drive

Stockmen in this county and Madison county led a year long bounty drive to curb wolves seen as a major threat. From December through the season 38 wolves have been paid at 15 dollars each, with additional unreported kills. Wolves in Grasshopper and Sage Creek areas accounted for many losses, while fund collectors urge broader participation as the total payout nears depletion.

Copper Queen group sold to Duluth capitalists

A major mining deal near Grant transfers the Copper Queen group owned by T. E. G. Lynch of Nova Scotia to the Copper Queen Mining and Smelting Company, backed by Duluth financiers. Foreman Serious Injuries From Horse Kick on Apex Bench

A. D. Harding foreman of Morse ranches on the Apex bench narrowly escaped a skull fracture after being kicked by a horse last Sunday night. His face was severely lacerated and his wind was broken. Medical aid from Dillon treated him and he is recovering, though healing will take time.

Grover Arrested After Plate Glass Rampage

Jacob Sample known as Grover, a green cloth knight, smashed two plate glass windows after an evening drinking spree. He then slept at the city jail with an officer, pleaded guilty in police court before Judge Conger, and paid a $50 fine.
