Pioneer prospector William Avery dies at 67 in Polaris
William Avery longtime Grasshopper placer worker and Elkhoen district miner died November 20 at Captain James Cochranes Polaris home after a long miner’s consumption. Born in Cadiz Ohio he served as corporal in the 43rd Ohio at Civil War end. He owned a Grasshopper ranch and held mining interests. funeral was well attended and he rests at Bantack cemetery.

Large game hunters record ten deer in Dillon trip

They returned with ten fine deer which were displayed at Deputy butcher shop. Ibex Property Strike in Beaverhead County Montana

The seven foot wide level contains four feet of solid ore with assays valued at 150 to 200 dollars per ton. John W. Morton bought the three Jota at Idaho and Glendale known as the Holy Roller corner from A R Jacobs guardian of Mrs W Metten. The public sale fetched $4200.
