Horse Prairie Armstead area diners set for Pipe Organ Lodge November 29. Isdom Jackson area dinner November 30 at Wisdom. If the new rec center at Beaverhead County High School is ready a December 15 dinner for Dillon businessmen may be held there.

Public Roads Bureau Approves Dillon Wisdom Contract
O A Bergeson of Beaverhead Chamber of Commerce reports that the Bureau of Public Roads has concurred with the state highway commission in awarding the Dillon Wisdom secondary route contract. The Union company of Great Falls won the bid for 235 945 dollars for 15 miles of graded and surfaced road between Dillon and Fox in the Big Hole basin. Work is expected to start soon though a start date has not been announced.

Man Injured While Hunting Recovers Near Birch Creek

Cowboy Admits Kidnapping and Torture Story Hoax
Harold Wetzel a Beaverhead valley ranch hand admitted his abduction tale was false after county officials confronted him. He said he invented the story about five hunters abducting him on Nov 3 1947 and that at the time he was at the Club Royal bar near Dillon drinking. The case prompted an extensive Beaverhead investigation and a $100 reward previously offered by the Butte Sportsmen's association.

Chester Downing Heads to International Livestock Expo
Chester Downing and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Downing left Tuesday for Missoula to entrain for Chicago and attend the International Livestock Exhibition November 29 to December 6. Downing was one of two Western Montana fat stock show winners, with his prize baby beef being shipped along with other Montana exhibits. Dillon Students Enjoy Wide Range of University Music Events
Missoula Dillon students took part in a series of musical activities at the State University. Bruce Grimes, a sophomore in the School of Music, performed with a trumpet quartet in a public recital and later joined the Grizzly band in downtown Armistice Day festivities. He also played in the University Symphony Orchestra as it opened its 1947-48 season. Additional students, Loren Bennett, Margot Scuebben, Janet Curry, and George Bowring, contributed to the university bands and orchestra in various sections.
