December marks the Montana Month mobilization. The campaign unites three railways and state divisions with regional directors. Funds, regional meetings, and district assignments accelerate plans to inform Montanans about the program and raise contributions.
Three girls from Beaverhead County High School attended the Vocational Congress for girls held in Bozeman last week. Dorothy Hirschman led in school effort, Bertha Koontz topped scholarship, and Adelaide Gelhaus ranked next in scholarship. Miss Koontz’s expenses were paid by the Shakespeare club and Miss Gelhaus’s by the Delphian club.
Doyle Gordon and Garton sonny were reported in Butte after a serious illness lasting several weeks. Hig accompanied by his parents was seen in the city.
The State Board of Education approved the Montana budget for 1925-26 and future years, with increases to fund teaching units and experiment stations to meet growing demands. Chancellor Brannon explained the need for more staff and resources for advanced classes and research areas including survey work, insect and disease protection, and stock protection. The board also ordered a full-time registered nurse and medical supplies for the State Orphans Home at Twin Bridges after illness reports, and set a 14 day quarantine for incoming children.
Montana announces 1925 licenses feature white figures on red backgrounds for all vehicles with dash and X distinctions for private and state cars. Louisiana plans seven color schemes across passenger truck and motorcycle plates as the best seen to aid distant recognition and quick identification in emergencies.
C B Brooks superintendent of the Montana Idaho division of the Calton railroad led Sunday visit in Dillon with officials and guests including B S Carmuthers. They toured the county by automobile. Mrs. A S Rife was a passenger to Butte yesterday.
Mrs. Margaret Morse longtime Dillon resident and pioneer of Beaverhead County died at home last Friday evening after a paralytic stroke. Born in Illinois April 5, 1855, she moved to Montana in 1884 with her husband Oscar E. Morse, who ran a local dry goods store until his death. Survived by two grandsons Morse and Lansing Waldorf of Dillon, a nephew and niece Howard Morse and Mrs T B Gilbert of Dillon, and other relatives in Illinois and Butte, the funeral was held Monday at 2 30 p m from the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev Edward Smith officiating, interment at Mountain View cemetery.
George M Connolly of a Lima area ranch was arrested Sunday by deputy game warden Tom Edmunds for illegally trapping beaver. He pleaded guilty in Justice Peter Hansen's Lima court and paid a $50 fine.
Frank Venable urged local Rotary Club members and citizens to cooperate in his campaign, calling for community support and coordinated efforts to advance his political objectives.
Frank Venable of the Butte Chamber of Commerce spoke to the Dillon Rotary about Montana Month a national publicity drive planned for December by Northern Pacific Burlington and Great Northern railroads. The campaign will push Montana resources through newspapers magazines circulars and pamphlets in the eastern and mid western states to attract eastern investment and citizens cooperation.

W H Boule, eighty and Civil War veteran, longtime Lima resident, died suddenly Monday morning after routine routines. He moved to Montana thirty one years ago and owned town property. Funeral in Lima this afternoon under Knights of Pythias rites.
The Independents, DeMolays, Beavers, and Normal squads have started workouts. The Independents organized a promising quintet, DeMolays added several ineligible high school players, Beavers and Normal plan tougher sessions next week. A four team league remains a possibility with no outside games scheduled yet.
A large audience at the Normal college auditorium enjoyed a concert by the music faculty last Friday. Encores were common after each piece, with Ruby Wyatt and Ralph McFadden delivering ensemble numbers, and Connie Martin Newman thrilling the room with three songs and two encores. Francis Howard McKay played three violin selections, while Elmo Jaquette Scott sang four arias to standing applause.
Moses D Jardine longtime Big Hole basin resident died last Thursday morning at the home of a relative in Malad Idaho He was born April 19 1876 in Willard Utah came to the Big Hole basin in 1901 owned a Jackson ranch and the Jackson hot springs hotel The funeral was held Saturday at Cherry Creek Idaho with interment there He leaves a wife two children five sisters and one brother
The St. Rose guild sponsors a Saturday bazaar and free tea and wafers at the Andrus hotel corner store, followed by a big evening dance at the city hall auditorium with Baxter Tonney Orchestra. Tickets include a coal prize donated by Beaverhead Lumber Co.
The 18 International Radio Week features stations closed in the United States to let fans hear foreign broadcasts. George Melton received Edinboro Scotland and Mexico City using a Freed-Eismann radio set sold by Beaverhead Motors.
Mrs Matt Polish and her daughter from Refchle were seen shopping in Dillom yesterday afternoon, adding to a busy local scene.
The county treasurer reminds taxpayers there are four days left to pay annual taxes. Lane Mathews notes that about 850 have paid in full and 260 have paid half, with more choosing the half plan than last year among the two thousand names outstanding.
