Sixty Pounds of Keys Collected in Dillon Drive
T. E. Gilbert reports sixty pounds of old keys collected in Dillon during the campaign that ended last Saturday. Keys were gathered via containers in offices and businesses for shipment to Revere Copper and Brass in Rome New York due to high nickel content needed for war production. Proceeds from the sale go to the national USO.

Two Truck Collide North of Dillon In Early Tuesday Crash
Patrolman Wright reports two cargo trucks collided head on about six miles north of Dillon on Highway 91 at 7 45 AM. One truck from Shelby loaded with salt and driven by Harry McCracken. the other from Dillon owned by Clayton Elliot and driven by James Boyd carried fruit vegetables ham lard and other goods for Daniels Auto Freight. No one was injured in the badly damaged vehicles. Beaverhead Selective Service announces a draft for December 7 with induction papers mailed. inductees to report December 6 at 3 PM for transport to Butte and then Fort Douglas Utah, with possible furloughs.

Teenagers to Register in December Under Draft Law
Judge James H. Baldwin in Butte dismissed civil actions over the deaths of four Dillon youths in a January crash. The bequested estates of Russell Miller Shirley Hughes Mary Boomer and James Hartwig were settled with prejudice and without costs per Beaverhead county district court. President Roosevelt ordered selective service registration for 18 year olds turning 18 since July 1 1942, to occur in the last three weeks of December, potentially 500000 youths eligible.
