Dillon to Institute New Eagle Aerie December First

The Dillon chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles will be instituted Saturday night December 1 in the city hall auditorium. Frank E. Blair of Virginia City leads the effort with Deputy Auditor E J Cyr as instilling officer representing the grand aerie. Delegations from many cities are expected as the charter list closes the night of December 1.

Ladies of Elks Elect Officers in Dillon Meeting

Dora Smith was elected president of the Dillon Ladies of the Elks at a regular meeting held last night at Mrs. F. G. Lyon’s home. Joyce Baril became vice-president, Ver non Nelson secretary, Isabel Bay treasurer, and Theresa Giles trustee. Isabel Bay won high score, Mary Murray the consolation prize, and Mrs. Chris Bay the traveling prize after pinochle.

Beaverhead native Harvey Paddock found dead near Jackson

Harvey D. Paddock, 55, lifelong Beaverhead County resident, was found dead by a road on Woody Creek five miles east of Jackson last Friday. Coroner ruled death from natural causes, likely a heart attack, after he had left with a team to haul wood. The wagon and team were found down the road. one horse dead, the other injured and shot. Funeral held in Wisdom with American Legion in charge. interment in Wisdom cemetery. Surviving are three sisters: Lucille Jardine, Elk Grove. James O’Connell, Butte. Nettie Paddock.

Vet Officer as Speaker at Dillon Rotary Club Dinner

Fred Lehn veteran employment representative of the U S employment service addressed the Dillon Rotary Club on veterans benefits under Public Law 346 the GI law. He highlighted rehabilitation retraining schooling loans and appren tice options with monthly stipends and hospital rights and answered questions showing strong veteran guidance. New Garbage Truck Takes Over In City

A new six cubic yard garbage truck from Oshkosh Wisconsin began service in Dillon’s sanitation department last week. It features an automatic loading bucket, white paint, and "department of sanitation" lettering. Commissioner E. E. Patrick says it will save about $100 monthly in labor and streamline collection.

Beavers Claim Fourth Straight Regional Title in 1943

Beaverhead County High School Beavers clinched the southern division Class B championship with a 39-6 win over Columbus. Chuck Davis scored four touchdowns to raise his season total to 97 points, earning state high-scorer honors. Davis and teammates dominated from the opening quarter as Coach Clancy Johnson’s squad extended their undefeated football record since the 1943 season start.

Joe White Heads Local Chapter of Air Association

Beaverhead county aviators organized a local chapter of the Montana Aviation association at a Monday night meeting. Joe White was elected president, with E. W.
