Ex Gov Robert B Smith of Montana Dies in Kalispell

Former Montana governor Robert B Smith died Monday at Northwestern hospital Kalispell after years of kidney trouble He had lived in Dillon for years and served as governor from 1896 to 1900 The Flathead County Bar Association planned floral tribute and funeral arrangements were set for Thursday in Conrad Memorial Cemetery George Norris and Jon Smith conveyed the news and honored his service

Thanksgiving Proclamation by Governor Norris 1908

Helena November 10 Edwin L Norris issues the Thanksgiving proclamation declaring Thursday November 26 1908 as Thanksgiving Day for Montana. He urges residents to observe the day in homes and places of worship giving thanks and seeking divine guidance for the year ahead. The proclamation bears the state seal and is signed by Secretary A N Yoder.

District court resumes with jurors present as Fred L. Stone faces perjury charges stemming from a prior divorce case F. L. Stone versus Carrie K. Stone in November 1903. Beardsley and Quinn assume Peat Hotel lease in Lina

Beardsley and J C Quinn of Dillon close a three year hotel lease with Charles S Truax at the Peat Hotel in Lina. Truax plans to move to Oregon. The new firm also takes over the associated livery business. Local editor Beardsley returns to Lima while Quinn, a former deputy sheriff, has come from Canada.

Depot Nearing Completion As Building Encloses

The new depot construction advances with roof shingling finished this week and wiring and plumbing nearing completion. A hot water heating system is being installed and today workers cleaned up the grounds.
