Tragic shooting in Lima rocks quiet town
W H Boule, a Lima constable, shot and killed Anthony J. Kania at the Shamrock Astoon owned by S B Burnside. Reported conflicting details surround the incident, with a coroner's inquest and sheriff's involvement as Boule surrendered to authorities. Kania, said to be a tinhorn gambler, died about 20 minutes after being shot. Ennis source details link him to Lima for a month and a check dated 1908 from Butte.

BERT ORR HOME FROM WHITLASH TO DILLON
Bert C. Orr of Poindexter & Orr cattle near Whitlash Northern Montana visited Butte and plans to winter in Dillon. He reports a good cattle season, markets strong, and he held most cattle at their 2,000 acre pasture before wintering. Route choices favored Great Northern lines over Canadian Pacific due to red tape. A brutal blizzard killed thousands of sheep and disrupted roundups, with many outfits losing hundreds to thousands. The northern Montana range movement is down versus last year.
