Funeral Service for Louis K. Adams in Dillon

Funeral services for Louis K. Adams 76 retired Dillon businessman were held Friday at Brundage chapel with Rev. Lewis Smith of St James Episcopal officiating. Dillon lodge 16 A F and A M and St Elmo commandery conducted graveside rites at Mountain View cemetery. Wreckage of Flying Fortress Found After Idaho Crash

CAP pilots located the wreckage of the Flying Fortress in Lemhi County after more than three weeks of search. Ten crew members parachuted to safety near Beaverhead County as the aircraft drifted. Lt. Buck stated the bomber was nearly a total loss. salvageable material was moved to Pltaco Army Air Base as investigators continue.

A northbound Union Pacific passenger train struck and killed two moose near Armstead Montana on Monday, destroying all meat and leaving authorities to take no action. The incident violated a strict state prohibition on moose hunting and underscores enforcement gaps in hunting law.

Sorting of Seed Spuds Is Started

The Irvine and Cottom plant in Dillon began sorting certified seed potatoes under Mer Bernard Williams with a large crew. Despite a slightly lower yield, quality remains high and in demand nationwide. shipments will begin shortly after year’s start. Beaverhead county high school's football team capped one of its best seasons in years by beating Livingston 14 to 18 on Armistice Day at the fairgrounds. The Beavers, 5-1 in six starts, opened with two first period scores as Dale Dart ran 35 yards and Chuck Davis plowed for five.

Beaverhead Observes Armistice Holiday in Townwide Events

Beaverhead County marked Armistice Day with a patriotic program at Beaverhead County High School, a football game where Beaverhead High beat Livingston 14 13 in a thriller, and the evening Armistice dance at City Hall. Atty. W G Gilbert spoke on wartime lessons and home front preparation, criticizing politicization of war, coal miners strikes, and urging modernization of war materials. The day opened with a high school band, colors, invocations, and performances by the girls chorus and soloists before a minute of silence and taps.

Sale of Heifer Aids Red Cross Across Two Counties

A heifer donated by R nyers of Bridges Hereford breeding helped Beaverhead county Red Cross raise 112.50 at the Byers Hereford sale in Butte. The Madison county chapter received a similar amount. Proceeds support the general fund of both chapters.

Armistice Day Events Add to Citizens Fund

Dillon's Armistice day football game and dance raised funds for the Citizens' committee aiding departing draftees and service men. Receipts totaled hundreds with gate money of 94.76 and 53.05 in door records, plus donations and a $150 guarantee to Livingston's team.

Court orders directed verdict in Montana case

In Beaverhead county’s first district court jury trial in over three years Myrtle T Larsen vs. George Steele a directed verdict for the plaintiff was ordered. Damages totaling 50.70 were awarded though the plaintiff sought 250 actual and 500 exemplary. Judge Lyman H Bennett issued the ruling near noon after the case began Monday on a sale and repossession of a refrigerator. James Kelly represented the plaintiff and Leonard Ward Schulz the defense.

Local Leader Named to Regional Rural Electric Board

C. E. Blinn prominent Lewiston businessman and Vigilante Electric Cooperative president was chosen to represent the Montana Rural Electric Cooperatives at a regional conference in Lewiston.
