Beaverhead High Names Girl Scout Officers

Beaverhead county high school formed a new Girl Scout troop and elected Marcheta McMenamey president Gerry Gillis vice president and Dorothy Tyre secretary treasurer at a meeting last Wednesday. Miss Evelyn Rimel leads the group, with meetings set for every other Wednesday at 7 p.m. in her room. Members include Sarah Spence Verda Howard Marcheta McMenomey Margaret Banks Shirley Kamp Marcia Warner Janet Curry Geraldine Gillis and Dorothy Tyro.

Prominent Dillon Man Dies After Illness

L. K. Adams 78, longtime manager of the Union Electric Co in Dillon, dies at Barrett hospital after prolonged illness. Funeral Friday at 1:30 p.m. Brundage chapel with Rev. Lewis Smith officiating and St James choir. Masonic services at Mountain View cemetery. Adams born December 1 1866 in Richland Center Wisconsin. Survived by daughter Grace M Cashmore of Dillon and two grandchildren Leone Grace and Alden Alfred Cashmore. A past master of Dillon lodge 16 AF and AM and member of other Masonic bodies and Rotary. He retired three years ago. His wife died eight years ago.

Montana Dairy Payments Planned for Oct to Dec 1943

The Montana AAA announces payments to dairy farmers for the quarter starting October 1 1943 and ending December 31 1943 to support whole milk and butterfat production. Payments based on milk or butterfat produced, 35 cents per hundredweight for milk and 4 cents per pound for butterfat, issued as non interest bearing drafts by the County AAA committee drawn on the Commodity Credit Corporation. Farmers must apply at Beaverhead County A C A office with records of milk delivered or creameries’ stubs showing butterfat content or milk sold.

Father Clifford to Be Installed Tonight

Father Timothy Clifford will be installed as pastor of St. Rose Catholic church at 7 o clock tonight with Very Rev William P Joyce as installing officer. Dozens of Helena diocese priests will attend as Clifford succeeds Rev F X Lechner who retired after 20 years. Clifford has served Beaverhead county 28 years and since 1920 led St Rose in Lima with duties across Beaverhead Madison and Silver Bow portions.

Ray Willey Named Beaverhead Deputy County Assessor

Ray Willey has been appointed Beaverhead county deputy assessor by Assessor Judson P. Best and has begun duties. A longtime Big Hole basin figure, Willey previously served 18 years as Wisdom postmaster and is a World War I veteran and American Legion member. He is a Beaverhead County High School alumnus and excelled in athletics.

Mrs Betsy Haines Dies After Heart Attack at 75

Betsy Roe Haines 75 a Beaverhead county pioneer died yesterday afternoon at her sister Louise Arndts home after a heart attack. Born June 2 1868 in Donington England she came to the U S in 1883. She was married to Josh Haines in Dillon in 1868. Funeral at Grace Methodist Friday 3 30 p m with Rev Ricketts of Butte. Interment Mountain View cemetery.

War Council Meet In Dillon Set For December

The Montana War council and Naval Recruiting Service postponed the November 17 meeting in Dillon to a date in the week of December 13. Sheriff John Troupe announced the scheduling change. The program will include motion pictures of American forces, a talk by Eugene W. Savage, and talks by a recruiting service representative.

Armistice Day Events In Dillon Planned By Legion Group

Beaverhead Post of the American Legion and the Citizens' committee organize Armistice Day activities amid World War II. Beaverhead county commissioners met November 1 2 and 3 1943 in Dillon Montana. They approved last session notes and authorized investigation into purchasing late George R Mellen office records. Private sale of lots 4 5 and 17 in Block 9 East Side to three buyers for 11.25 per lot. A 1931 International truck valued at 650 was slated for public auction on December 8 1943. Merchandise offered at fair value may count as full payment for a county road and bridge project. A resident protested the Ermont Mines road location by letter.

Mrs. Lulu M. Williamson Dies at 70 in Dillon

Mrs. Lulu M. Williamson 70 longtime Dillon resident died Thursday at Barrett hospital after a long illness. Born July 20 1873 in Ellis Missouri she moved west as a young woman and married S A Williamson in Salmon Idaho later moving to Dillon in 1905. Funeral services were held Saturday with Rev. Lewis D. Smith of St James Episcopal Church and Mizpah chapter 13 Eastern Star assisting. interment Mountain View cemetery.
