Million Letters in the Mails Today at Home and Overseas
The Y M C A stamps stars and stripes on millions of letters sent to soldiers in cantonments and overseas. In Hempstead Plain 87,000 men from 27 states endure rain and mud while YMCA staff distribute paper, envelopes, and parcels to keep troops connected to home. Soldiers speak of the YMCA as a friend, aiding letter writing, religious meetings, athletics, books, and comfort from frontline to return.
