Dillon Man Fatally Hurt In Auto Crash
Melvyn Weenink 43 a well known Dillon man died Friday afternoon at Barrett hospital from injuries in a car collision 35 miles south of Dillon near Kidd. He passed after his skull and chest injuries from a head on crash with Amos Hambsch 65 en route from northern Montana to Miami Ariz. Hambsch had facial cuts and a knee injury. Two Hambsch sons 24 and 21 also injured minorly. A fourth passenger Ben Kelso 30 suffered facial and leg cuts. Highway Patrolman Bob Wright and Undersheriff John Troupe investigated.

Dillon Business and Professional Women's club presented a humorous production The Circus at the Normal college auditorium for two nights. Nearly 100 local actors participated under Miss Helen Raynor to benefit Mountain View cemetery improvement funds. The show drew large crowds and the cast featured Eirene Eliel Kenneth Wheat Albert Erickson and many others.

Beaverhead county faced its initial cold spell following a heavy snowstorm that dropped over two feet in some areas. Temperatures plunged to zero and below, prompting readiness by residents and disrupting dirt roads while rail service stayed on schedule.

Bunkhouse Destroyed By Flames At Rebich Ranch
Fire of undetermined origin destroyed a large bunkhouse at the Mike Rebich Sr ranch eight miles south of Dillon on Monday night. Dillon volunteer firefighters arrived late due to a tied up rural truck in a stalled sales contract dispute but confined the blaze to the single structure. The bunkhouse was reported by Joe Mulkey after flames were seen leaping from the roof. Damage was several hundred dollars. earlier that day firefighters responded to a false alarm at the Joe Klebba property.

Normal instructors to present concert at Tirzah temple
Dillon Daughters of the Nile sponsor a program by Normal college students at Tirzah temple in Butte. The college dramatics club staged Tea Room Cottage with Margaret McLeod, Maxine Cline, and Vincent Curry. A mixed quartet performed, with Nadine Kuss, Margaret McLeod, Kenneth Barry, and Douglas Wagg. Mary Hockine was accompanist and Arnold Clair directed. A piano violin program by Ralph McFadden and Arnold Clair is announced for November 16 at 8 15 in the Normal college auditorium.

Twenty civic and fraternal organizations endorsed a municipal park after a city council meeting. A questionnaire presented by Girl Scout commissioner Mrs. H M Warner showed broad support for a special tax to fund and maintain the park. A favorable 10 acre site could be bought for 2500 dollars with the county high school proposing an athletic field and playground alongside the park.

Beaverhead county high school senior Art Halls told Dillin Rotarians at a weekly dinner that a new high school building will be constructed in coming months. The design includes concrete walls, sound proofed ceilings, an auditorium 54 by 770 feet seating 500, a gym 90 by 70, modern classrooms, a manual training shop and offices, covering an available block.

Guilty plea nets two years for forgery in Armstead
John Leo Hoban received a two year state prison sentence after pleading guilty to forgery. He had been arrested on impersonating a federal officer in Armstead and tried in federal court in Butte before being taken into custody on the local forgery charge. Hoban allegedly cashed a fictitious check at Luanna Robinsons cafe. Farm Prices Slide in October Across Montana
Twenty of Montana's 36 principal farm products fell in price in October while ten stayed flat and six rose. The report covers the month ended October 15 with declines in hay grain potatoes apples beans seed crops and some meat animals. Flaxseed beef cattle and dairy products edged higher. Winter wheat held at 40 cents per bushel and spring wheat fell to 44 cents. All wheat averaged 43 cents per bushel, down two cents from September and 89 cents from a year earlier.

Beaverhead county central committees hosted a county returns bureau at the courthouse to gather and tally results from the general election. Dillon Matron Florence Williams Dies at Home
Mrs Florence Williams 42 wife of Edward H Williams died at her Dillon home Sunday night after a long illness. Born in St Louis in 1896 she moved to Dillon in 1936 and has lived here since. Survived by her husband the funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 pm from Brundage chapel with Rev H N Tragitt of St James Episcopal Church presiding and burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Beaverhead Students Tie In All-State Music Meet
Six Beaverhead county high school students performed in the all state orchestra at the Montana Education Association session in Billings last week. The Beaverhead delegation included Joe Taylor oboe June Patrick violin Billy or violin Peggy Quackenbush string bass Ruth Jackson a cello and Elizabeth Wilkinson cornet. Twenty three Montana schools were represented and two concerts were held with Saturday morning broadcast over KGHL Billings.
