Stephan elected Red Cross roll call head in Beaverhead

Dr W H Stephan was elected chairman of Beaverhead county Red Cross roll call by the local chapter executive. He will be aided by rural chairman R M Stone and Dillon chairman Mrs Lee R Light. The drive begins Armistice day but Bea verhead county starts next day due to Dillon Armistice events and will run through Thanksgiving with booths held in Dillon on Nov 12 and 19.

Circus Home Talent Play At Normal Auditorium

Gales of laughter await audiences at the Normal College auditorium Friday and Saturday nights as the Dillon Business and Professional Women's club presents The Circus. Directed by Miss Helen Raynor for the Amateur Theatre Guild, the show features clowns pony dancers The Man on the Flying Trapeze Maple the Lion Bearded Lady and Maudie the donkey among many acts. Armistice Day Observed by Beaverhead Veterans in Dillon

Beaverhead post of the American Legion plans Armistice day events in Dillon. Rev. John F. Como of Anaconda will deliver the day’s address, with patriotic music and a minute of silent prayer at 11. Beaverhead High meets Hamilton at the fairgrounds in the afternoon, followed by the ex-service men’s banquet and a public dance at city hall.

District Deputy Honored by Dillon Elks Club Dance

The Dillon Elks lodge hosted a district deputy James T. Finlen Jr of Butte with a combined meeting and Halloween party last Saturday. A drum corps led a parade through the business district with Girl Scouts and a play sponsored by the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Two candidates were initiated, followed by a drum corps dance at Dart’s hall where elk meat was served and Halloween favors given.

REA Extends loan for Beaverhead rural electric line

The Rural Electrification Administration announced a new loan contract of 118 600 dollars for the Jefferson Valley Rural Electric Cooperative to extend into the Beaverhead Valley and lower Big Hole. The project covers 105 miles of line serving 246 customers starting September 16. In unrelated local hunting news Chinese pheasants were heavily pursued on Sunday as more hunters than birds were seen in the Beaverhead valley.

Sound forms subject of rotary talk

Prof. George L. Shue of the Butte School of Mines spoke to the Dillon Rotary club about sound and sound control. He demonstrated pitch, loudness, timbre and common theatre PA errors using apparatus and phonograph records. The club announced a special Nov. 14 meeting and noted guests Prof. Walter Scott and Beaverhead high student Art Halls.

Hoban faces check charge after acquittal in federal case

John Leo Hoban briefly tasted freedom in Butte federal court before Sheriff Paul Temple arrested him on the original forgery charge. The jury had acquitted Hoban of impersonating a federal officer after the government failed to prove the claim. In Dillon Hoban faces the forgery charge while two youths, Burton Bachellor and Terry O’Hera, pled guilty to a car theft charge and await sentencing.

Heaston to Stand Trial for Wise River Rancher Killing

William J. Heaston Sr. faces a murder trial next Wednesday in the November district court term over the shooting of Wise River rancher Joseph W. Potts. Beaverhead River Reposes Shotguns Amid River Rescue
