S Langdorf Injured When County Truck Runs Over Him
Sam Langdorf a well known Dillon youth suffered critical injuries when a county truck skidded on gravel near the cemetery road east of Dillon yesterday afternoon. He was riding in the box at the rear when thrown under the rear wheels fracturing his skull and crushing his chest. Ernest Denny jumped clear as the truck driven by Murph Thompson passed. The men were county employees returning from a highway job and Dr. T A Grigg of Butte was called in for consultation.

Death by Own Action in Freight Car At Melrose
An unidentified man, about 65, slashed his throat with a razor and killed himself in a freight car near Melrose early Sunday. He left no identifying marks, and an inquest by Coroner James E. Phillips yielded no new light. Other men on the car notified authorities when the train reached Dillon. two witnesses were held for the inquest.

Elks Lodge to Sponsor Park Dance at Dillmont Park
The Elks Lodge will host a public dance Saturday night at Dillmont Park as the third in a county series. Music by the Elks orchestra featuring Francis Tonrey Anson Baxter Dan Henneberry Melvyn Smith and Harold Contway. Special entertainment includes Claudia Faust with two pupils Helen Hoerning and Mona Harding. Previous dances in Armstead Lima and Wisdom were successful and this event is expected to surpass them.

Memorial Day Observed Quietly in Dillon and Region
Memorial day ceremonies were held quietly in Dillon with ex service men leading events. A 22 member band under L A Gregory played on the Oregon Short Line depot lawn then at Mountain View cemetery as the American Legion conducted a ritualistic service with salute and taps. Continued on page 9.

Gill Rodeo at Wise River Sunday Promises Thrills
Beaverhead county's first wild west show of the year stages at Wise River next Sunday under Fred Gill. Pioneer of County Dies California
Luther Drury Graeter, California pioneer and eldest son of the late A F Graeter, died at his Arcata home after a months long illness. Born July 28 1862 in Highgate Vermont, he came to Bannack as a child in the 1860s and later married Bertha A Minor in Arcata January 13 1887 where he worked in lumber and milling.

Sallie Morton Maurer longtime resident of this community died last Saturday at her Los Angeles home after a long illness. Born May 9, 1869 in Mayfield Kentucky she came here as a young woman and married Christopher Maurer in 1881. Merchants Protest Removal Of Morning Mail Stage
Dillon business men and citizens protest the scheduled removal of the stage that brings mail and morning papers from Butte to Dillon each morning. Postmaster J C Fuller was informed the stage will be discontinued today May 1. A petition to Washington and a telegram from Senator Wheeler promise action. Discontinuance would inconvenience residents and hurt local business.
