Survey for Big Reservoir on Ruby River
George R. Metlen and a Dillon crew survey the site for a large irrigation reservoir across the upper end of the lower Ruby canyon about five miles above Alder for the Homestead Land & Irrigation Co. The dam on the Ruby river will be 150 feet high and back water three miles, flooding several ranches and placer diggings, to reclaim about 24 000 acres under the Carey act. The canal runs along the Ruby valley base toward the beach land opposite Sheridan, with settlement possible in about two years and a population gain for Madison County.
