Ensign Frederick R Chapman Jr of Dillon Illinois sailed with Air Group 29 in a Hell Cat unit. He completed 50 combat missions strafing and bombing airfields ships and shore installations from the Philippines to Honshu. Dillon Woman La Veeta Richmond Dies at St James
La Veeta Richmond, year old daughter of Mr and Mrs James Richmond, died Friday at St James hospital in Butte after being brought there a week earlier. Born May 6 1944 in Dillon she was survived by both parents paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother plus several aunts and uncles. Funeral was held Tuesday at Brundage chapel with Rev Father F X Lechner officiating and Mountain View cemetery interment. Mrs Ann McBride Montana Rebekah assembly vice president visited the Diana Rebekah lodge at their meeting with a dinner at Andrus hotel attended by six Rebekahs and guests.

He described the 24 buildings and 200 acres with a dairy herd and poultry completing care for 260 inmate children most of whom have living parents. Forty nine eighth grade pupils of Dillon public schools will receive diplomas Friday at 2 p.m. in Bagley auditorium. County Attorney Lew D. Brundage will give the address titled Looking Ahead. Supt. O Kay Moe will present the class, diplomas by A F Waldorf, chairman of the board. Rev Norman Benson will offer invocation and benediction. The school orchestra directed by L A Gregory will play the processional and recessional as the audience joins in singing America and The Star Spangled Banner.

Mother of Centennial Man Passes Away
Mrs. Howard Breneman, 54, mother of Sam Breneman a Centennial valley rancher, was found dead at the ranch home Friday morning after the family returned. Born April 9, 1886 in Carson Iowa she taught school in Town and married there in 1912.

Service Dance Set For Saturday Night City Hall
The monthly service men’s dance sponsored by the citizens committee is slated for Saturday night May 26 at City Hall. Chairman Ambrose Hennberry says past dances drew large crowds and this time dancing will run until 2 a.m. Free admission for local selectee contingents and service men on furlough. Ben Carroll of Dillon Dies in Kansas City
Ben Carroll 65 a former Dillon resident died suddenly yesterday morning in Kansas City. He worked as an engineer at Montana State Normal College for many years and later at the President hotel in Kansas City. He was born in Tennessee on November 22 1879 and came to Montana in 1907. He married Blanche Harvey in 1909. she died in Dillon five years ago. Surviving are a son Clifford Carroll in the Navy, a daughter in Dillon, and two sons-in-law and daughters in Dillon.

Pioneer of Dillon Dies Last Friday
William F. Cashmore 75 a Dillon pioneer and former Beaverhead county official died Friday night at St Peters hospital Helena after a year of heart illness He came to Dillon in 1882 and worked as an accountant for Montana Mercantile later serving two terms as county treasurer For 16 years he ran an insurance and real estate business in Beaverhead County His death ends a long local life and public service with roots in Ogden Utah and Dillon institutions
