Reading interests for children across age groups

The passage outlines how children from infancy to age twelve engage with books. It suggests reading aloud to babies, offering picture books to toddlers, and matching stories to interests such as rocks or bugs for ages five to nine. It lists favorites like Winnie-the-Pooh, Grimm fairy tales, Heidi, Treasure Island, and Huckleberry Finn, then notes older kids enjoy Kon Tiki and varied genres. It advocates family reading to sustain interest.
