Montana State Normal College to switch to semester system
Montana State Normal College will abandon the quarter plan and start a semester basis with the fall term opening September 22. Records for current students will stay in quarter credits, while new students will be graded under the semester system. Post Office to Be Renovated
A complete renovation of the post office grounds and interior began Tuesday with hedge planting along the sidewalk. Amur River Privet forms the hedge while cottonwoods in the parking strip are replaced by ash trees after a large tree was blown over near the library injuring a car. Harlan Harrison son of Mrs. H. L. Harrison and brother of Bob Harrison of Dillon wed Miss Helen Burns Sunday in Crow Agency Montana at the Catholic church. Beaverhead county high school sent about 35 students to the annual interscholastic competition at Missoula. The Beaver weekly, judged superior, featured in state wide results. Debaters Louis Schmittroth J W McCracken Dorothy Davis Evelyn Gregg and John Bowring reached the semi finals. Golfer John Wenger placed 15th of 49. Don Smith advanced to finals in extemporaneous speaking. June Johnson excelled in declamation and Betty Barry reached tennis semi finals. The group left Wednesday afternoon and returned Friday evening.

Citizenship day was observed in Dillon with a 7 30 parade led by American Legion color guards and a 8 00 program at the high school auditorium. Albert Anderson of the Montana Supreme Court delivered the main address as the Beaverhead Bar association sponsored the event.
