Clara Plant Dies Suddenly In Dillon on Shopping Trip
Clara Plant a longtime Dillon resident died suddenly Monday at noon during a shopping trip after collapsing while speaking with Harold M. Warner at his Montana street store. She had lived in Dillon 45 years and was active in Theta Hob Nob Baptist church and later L D S church. The funeral was held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with interment in Richmond Utah. Surviving relatives include a sister in Canada and nieces such as Mrs. Margaret Grimmett of American Falls Idaho.

Ellis B. Pruitt aged 52 died Sunday at his East Helena street home after a long illness. Born February 21, 1896 in Kentucky, he gained fame as a horse breaker, rodeo rider and wrestler in the northwest before turning to ranching. He was a member of Dillon aerie No. 2465, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving wife Emma, a son Richard Murray, and sister Mrs. Dave Siersky of Louisville. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with Eagles ritual and interment at Mountain View Cemetery.

County Music Meet Held Saturday at High School
A county wide music meet was held at the high school auditorium on Saturday with Fr Honeychurch directing. District No 10 presented a woodwind trio and a sixth grade chorus directed by Edna Moe, plus a cello solo and cornet trio. Bands from Nelson Riverside Reichle Monida and other districts contributed vocal and instrumental numbers by named pupils and student groups.

Drunk Driving Charge Ends in $75 Fine for Transient
Everett John Mays, a transient, pleaded guilty in justice court to driving a car while intoxicated and was fined $75 by Judge Louis Stahl. He was arrested by State Patrolman Robert Wright after 10 pm Tuesday about 11 miles north of Dillon. His car left the highway, overturned in a barrow pit, and caught fire. a Karst truck driver extinguished the blaze, preventing serious injuries to the occupants.

Concrete Is Poured For Baptist Church
In response to a hurry up call last Friday evening, George R. Baker of the Montana State Employment office recruited a crew of 15 men, mostly college students, to pour concrete for the footings of the new Baptist church on Idaho street opposite the post office. The force began work Saturday morning and by mid afternoon had completed the first stage. Construction will continue with foundation and sidewalls next, as a 32 by 60 foot cinder block building, Orion Pilon as general superintendent.

The Dillon Gun Club scored 73 in Sundays shoot with H Sneed 25 and Herman Peterson and Paul Temple 24 each among 23 shooters on the line. Life magazine features Thomas Savage native of Beaverhead county and Beaverhead High School graduate. The novelist and Suffolk University teacher sold movie rights to Lona Hanson for 50 000 after a Boston bank loan was denied. He is the son of Mrs. Charles Brenner of Grant and a Montana State University alumnus. His debut novel The Pass was set in southwestern Beaverhead and Lemhi County, Idaho.

William Nelson Named Montana Outstanding Future Farmer of 1948
William Nelson of Jackson and Beaverhead county chapter of Future Farmers of America was named Montana's outstanding future farmer for 1948. He earns a $100 national RFA Foundation cash award and a chance to compete in the national farm and home electrification contest in Kansas City.
