Annual May Fete Set for Friday at College Gym

Dillon Gun club shooters posted another perfect score in the final event of the Montana Standard’s annual postal trapshoot. Helena, the league leader, fell from first with a 73 as Dillon and Helena faced a double tie.

Auxiliary Officers Elected At Monday Legion Meeting
Mrs. D. V. Paddock was elected president of the American Legion auxiliary with Mrs. Cashmore as first vice president and Mrs. Luther Smith as second vice president. Former Beaverhead Teacher Esther Reed Kirk Dies
Esther Reed Kirk a former Beaverhead county high school instructor died in Santa Barbara California after an appendicitis operation. She taught in Santa Paula since 1927 and earlier spent a year in the local high school English department. Born September 12 1894 in Extra Iowa she is survived by her husband parents a brother and three sisters. Funeral services were held in Santa Paula.

Kenneth Kenison posted 42.20 miles per gallon to win the Chevrolet Economy contest by Montana Auto Supply. Sixty four entrants competed, 39 achieving 30 or more mpg, with women’s winner Burnsee Farrell at 39 mpg and Ed Kellner second among men at 39.6 mpg. The contest used a measured quart of gasoline under supervision and ended Monday afternoon.

Former Dillon Resident L. E. Bordwine Dies in California
L. E. Bordwine, longtime Dillon resident, died last Thursday at his Alhambra home in California at age 81. He moved to Dillon in the late 1890s and lived there until about 15 years ago. Survived by sister Mrs. Oliver Harrison of Grasshopper Valley.

Lyman Bigler Dies After Long Illness in Beaverhead County
Beaverhead County resident Lyman Bigler died Sunday night at the F C McFadden home after a protracted illness. The Rev T J Simons officiated at the Brundage chapel funeral with interment in Mountain View cemetery. He had lived in the county 46 years and was born in Utah 64 years ago, leaving two sisters a nephew and a niece in Dillon.
