Knights of Birmingham Confer Degree at Lodge Night

Wisdom Masons conferred the Knights of Birmingham degree on 14 Dillon candidates during Past Masters night. The event drew strong attendance at the Dillon Lodge session with a 7 o'clock banquet followed by the regular meeting chaired by Findlay Watson and other officers.

Grove on Normal Campus Dedicates Arbor Day Event

The Montana State Normal college grove on the campus southwest corner was dedicated yesterday morning as part of the campus beautification program. President S. E. Davis spoke, Vice President Light presented an Arbor Day talk, and the glee club performed selections concluding with the national anthem. The dedication coincided with Montana Arbor Day.

Beaverhead Stockman Re-Elected Montana Stock Growers Leader

Beav erhead rancher BORGE M. CLEMOW was unanimously chosen to serve a third term as president of the Montana Stock Growers association at the Bozeman convention closing session. He praised Montana 4 H and Baby Beef clubs and noted the group’s growth to over 1,200 members, while also re-electing officers Julian Terrett W H Donald and E A Phillips. The gathering adopted resolutions seeking return of seven million acres of eastern Montana public domain to the state rather than federal forest administration.

Classic of the Diamond Next Sunday Classic of Dillon

Dillon's baseball season features a coaching session when Terry's Old-Timers tutor the regular Dillon nine at 2 p m Sunday at Beaverhead County fairgrounds. Last year the players misbehaved as spectators, while the score 15 to 3 was noted as a playful memory.

Dillon Choral Club Delights at Training School Concert

The Dillon Choral Club performed a well received spring concert at the training school auditorium drawing a full house. Under director Mrs. W. G. Gilbert the eight selections and special numbers showcased the club's talents and praised dedication of its members. Judge Henry G. Rodgers attended Helena duties afterward replacing Justice Albert J. Galen briefly on the Montana Supreme Court.

Alma Nichols dies after pneumonia at Mose Smyth ranch

Alma Nichols 65 a Blaine resident for 80 years died Monday evening at the Mose Smyth ranch after a brief pneumonia illness. He worked in the Madison county livestock trade 30 years and was born in American Fork Utah. His body was moved to Dillon and then shipped to American Fork for funeral services with relatives including several brothers helping with arrangements.

Renfro returns home after European shooting tour

Ted Renfro, famed as the world’s champion in live-bird shooting, returns to Dell after three months in Europe where he earned praise as the greatest shooter on the ranges. He carries the titles “Wonder of Pigeon Shooting” and “Babe Ruth of the Ranges” as he plans a Dillon Gun Club appearance on May 24.

Havrehead county high school glee clubs performed the operetta Jerry of Jericho Road by Clark in the gym Friday night before a large audience including county grade school guests. Miss Wilma Robbing and Mrs. James McCollum directed a tuneful and humorous program featuring fifty or more students in cast chorus and dancing units.

Beaverhead Debenture Vote Confirmed by County Board

Official canvass shows Beaverhead county residents backed the highway debenture bill 884 to 161 with 37 percent turnout overall and 30 percent in Dillon. Nicholia opposed 5 to 3 while Polaris Lakeview and Coolidge precincts voted unanimously in favor. several other precincts favored the measure.

Forrester Leads Dillon Gun Club Shoot

Forrester was the high gun in the Dillon Gun Club regular shoot winning with a perfect 98 of 100. Tallent took second with 88 and H Brundage finished third with 85 as Sheridan trapshooters joined the event.
