Beaverhead county wool markets surge as buyers Halewell Jones Donald Jeremiah Williams contract near 500 000 pounds. Cook Sheep company clip about 200 000 pounds sold to Halewell Jones Donald, with Dodd and others contributing. Rodgers files for Beaverhead County representative primary

On Monday G Rodgers filed notice to run for the Republican nomination as Beaverhead County representative in the August primaries. He previously held the office for two years. W Chapman also filed for the Democratic nomination for county surveyor. John Baker clerk and recorder and T E Gilbert county attorney filed Republican notices last week.

Dillon Men Set to Attend Helena Meeting on Primary Law Repeal

At least five well known Dillon men from both parties expect to travel to Helena on the 20th of this month for the state meeting to repeal the primary election laws. The Dillon-led movement has gained statewide momentum with representatives from nearly every county anticipated.

Beaverhead County Board Watches Road Matters and Tax Proposals

Beaverhead county commissioners met May 1 1922 at 1 pm with Gosman Anderson and clerk Baker present. Minutes approved. A road change petition from Burden and others and a deferral of W A Sewell road report were noted. A two week June leave for Auditor Cashmore was approved and road and poor poll taxes were authorized at two dollars per year per male resident over 21 and under 60 for county indigent sick and dependent poor. area cities exempted where local road tax exists.

University Masquers Stage Clarence Booth Tarkington Comedy

The University Masquers will stage Clarence by Booth Tarkington at Hartwig theater on May 13. Keene Finch leads an all star student cast directed by Alexander Dean with Mrs Finch supporting. The Hartford Courant lauds the group and Montana's university extension efforts.

George Johnson Dies Sudden at Dell Ranch

George Johnson a longtime foreman at Cook Sheep company ranch in Dell dropped dead Saturday morning while attending hill duties. He died of an acute heart attack and his body was moved to Dillon for burial. a brother from Saskatchewan, Canada, will return the body there. He was about 41 and had lived in Beaverhead County for years.

Canoe Trip to Great Falls Linked by Forrester Family

Rev. George MacDougall and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Forrester left yesterday for Great Falls. They will cover the route in five days in Mr Forrester’s new canoe. The party embarked at the Point of Rocks and will camp along the river.

District Court Docket Highlights Settlements and continuations

The district court opened in the city with Ira Wagner versus Roscoe Cornell settled out of court. B C Crowley versus E H Williams was continued for the term. Waters versus Hartwig proceeded as a civil action seeking damages for a threshing machine and equipment destroyed by fire at the Hartwig ranch.

Barrett hospital contract bids announced for Dillon project

Bozeman firm Hamill and Swanstrum submitted the low bid of 58 840 dollars for the Barrett hospital to be built in Dillon this summer. The project includes plumbing by Dart Hardware of Dillon at 11 004 dollars and electrical work by Burles and Taylor of Dillon at 2 315 dollars. Other bids came from firms in Butte, Idaho Falls, Dillon, Billings, and Helena with several competitors in each specialty.

Beaverhead County High School Commencement Week Events

Commencement exercises at Beaverhead County High School begin Friday with a musical recital directed by Mrs Thurman. The big events include a baccalaureate sermon by Rev T W Bennett, the Junior Prom, a class play Green Stockings, and the alumni banquet next Thursday. Twenty graduates with varied courses will receive diplomas Friday night by President of the board.
