Beloved Matron Dodd Dies After Months of Illness

The Beloved Matron of the B C High School class and wife of James Dodd died after a long illness. Funeral services were held at St James Episcopal Church with burial at Mountain View Cemetery. she was born in Butte and lived in Dillon after a ranching life in Centennial valley. She is survived by her husband, her parents, and three sisters.

Commencement Week Activities At Beaverhead High

Beaverhead county high school year culminates with baccalaureate on Sunday read by Rev T W Bennett, class of 1922 in gray gowns. Junior Prom last Monday night featured blue and white decor and a Dutch motif with the Baxter Tonney orchestra. Annual Catholic Field Day Set for June 8 at Dirlmont Park

The Catholic field day is planned for June 8 at Dirlmont Park. Officials promise a full sports program and attractive prizes for children and adults. If weather cooperates, the picnic could be the biggest Dillon has seen from the Catholics.

Return from Canoe Trip Down the Missouri River

Rev. George MacDougall and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Forrester return to Dillon after a five day voyage from the Missouri headwaters to Craig aboard a large canoe. They left May 8 from Point of Rocks and faced daily strong north winds but reported no mishaps amid a splendid trip.

Death of Jane Gilbert at Four in Dillon

Jane Gilbert four died Monday at Murray hospital after weeks of heart illness. The child, born in Los Angeles, was taken from the Gilbert ranch at Homepark Madison county to Dillon for burial at Mountain View cemetery alongside her family. The funeral was conducted by Rev Father Clifford. Sympathies extend to Mr and Mrs Frederick A Gilbert and the family.

Alarms of Fire Reported in Local Sites

Fire alarms sounded in the week at J. B. McLaren's blacksmith shop when ceiling wiring sparked in a pee catch. Another alarm from the Dillon hotel reported clothes catching fire from inside a pocket but was extinguished before the department arrived, due to a mistaken address.

Montana State College Band Concert Tours Montana

The Montana State College Band from Bozeman played a Wednesday night concert in the Bozeman high school gym to a large audience. The tour includes Deer Lodge Anaconda Great Falls and Helena with soloists Esther Gary Louis L Howard and Fred LaBonte praised for performances and Prof. William Howard featured.

Miss Birdie Mathews Files for County Treasurer Nomination

Miss Birdie Mathews enters the race for county treasurer on the Democratic ticket at the August primaries. She is the first Democrat to file in the county and is the sister of incumbent Miss Georgia Mathews. Mathews has served four years as deputy county treasurer.

Dr. Witherspoon, eminent Butte surgeon and Rotary member, spoke to the Dillon Rotary at noon today. His address provided insight into the club’s purpose and was enjoyed by all. Mrs. L. E. Potter and Mrs. Mallen tine were passengers to Butte yesterday.

Memorial Day Program Set for Dillon May 30

The American Legion will manage the Dillon Memorial Day program on May 30 with a morning parade. Ex service men, patriotic organizations, fraternal groups, and schools are invited to participate. The procession forms at the county courthouse and includes a patriotic address by President Davis of the Normal college, followed by cemetery grave decorations.
