Browning Man Digs Buffalo Bones Instead of Buying Furs
Ben Larson of Browning shifts from annual fur trips to dig buffalo bones at Badger and Cut Bank creeks. He undertakes a bulldozer clean up to expose bones once used to drive buffalo to death by Indians. Bones and teeth are sold for curio trade as the market for bone charcoal persists. Indications suggest bones lay 6 to 8 feet deep, with years of dirt accumulation and little written history. Indian assistance notes ongoing collection of teeth for sale to tourists.
