An Helena Independent account traces Henry Bode born in 1877 to Wilhemshaven or Los Angeles. He enlisted May 2 1898 in Dillon Montana and saw service with the First Montana infantry before being discharged after illness in Manila. He later faced arrest in New York's Governor’s Island prison after being recognized by Mrs. Gerard.

Big Cattle Deal Near Whitehall Nets $98 000
Ira Sanders of LaDuce and Sanders sold 1 400 head of Shorthorn cattle to Halling and Buford of Virginia City for 98 000 dollars. He delivered Lubue and Sanders leases twenty miles above Ennis and the cattle, wintered at Diamond C ranch recently sold to Nay Brothers, were railed toward Madison valley for summer range. Health survey of Beaverhead County completed
Mrs. Guy Stuckey of the Montana Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis spent a month in Beaverhead County conducting health surveys in rural schools. She inspected 461 children finding 266 with defects, notified parents, and urged corrections. Dillon inspections covered 487 children with 269 defects. A county nurse is hoped for, and a Red Cross Christmas seals honor penant will be displayed in the superintendent's office.
