Pioneer Citizen Corneling Hedges Dies in Helena
Corneling Hedges died Monday at 12 30 AM at his Helena home after nearly three weeks of illness. His wife Mrs Hedges and children Cornelius Hedges Jr and Mrs H Palmer were at his bedside. A respected pioneer lawyer and editor born in 1820s, he moved from Independence Iowa to Montana in 1864 settling in Helena after travels from Alderguich to Virginia City. Joe Kramer was summoned as juror for the May term of court.

Last Saturday George V Patterson and Mary Peterson, popular Dell and Lima residents, were married in Butte. Patterson is oldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Patterson of Dell, while the bride is oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Dedrick Peterson of Lima. After the ceremony the couple returned to Sheep Creek basin and will celebrate again in Lima next Friday night with friends.

Declamatory Contest at the High School May 6
Preparations are under way for a high school declamatory contest on Monday evening May 6 to select a candidate for the Fourth Annual Inter Scholastic Meet in Missoula May 15 to 17. An admission of twenty five cents will be charged with proceeds to defray travel expenses for the top three contestants and the High School Olette.
