Dillon Hosts Grand Army Encampment With Loyal Welcome

The G A R and Women's Relief Corps hold their annual encampment in Dillon. Veterans, led by the Dillon band, are welcomed by Gov. White and Lt. Gov. Norris with city hospitality. The event includes meetings at Odd Fellows hall, speeches by Department Commander Blake, and a joint program with the Women's Relief Corps featuring essays, a medal prize, a school flag presentation, and a banquet at Odd Fellows hall.

Sacred Concert Series At M. E. Church Next Sunday

Sacred program at the M. E. Church features Prof. E. S. Luce directing. The 8 p m concert includes quartets, solos, and violin pieces by Miss Rife, Mrs. E. S. Luce, and others with the Parks Ladies Quartette performing Prodigal Son. Sunday services begin 11 a m with sunday school at 10 a m and Epworth league at 7 p m.

Normal College Forms Executive Committee Appointments

The State Normal College board named standing committees including Finance and Expenditures Stone and Bishop, Dormitory Poindexter and Stone, Building and Grounds Bishop and Poindexter, Courses of Study and Instruction White and Krees, Teachers and Employes Krese and White. The teachers committee may obtain applications for an instructor in manual training and drawing, a new department to start with the September term. Until the new main building is finished, the old dormitory dining room will serve that purpose, with apparatus and equipment to be purchased as needed.

Dillon to Hear New Henry T Miller Concert Grand

The Normal College in Dillon hosts its first public hearing of the Henry T Miller concert grand piano next Friday evening April 7. A special concert directed by Professor and Mrs Luce will feature the new instrument while the YWCA event planned for that night is postponed to focus on this premier recital.

Dillon Citizens caucus names nonpartizan slate for April vote

The Dillon caucus at the county courthouse endorsed a full municipal ticket headed by A S Johnson for city treasurer and W J Cushing for police magistrate with William Phillips, W M Knapp and O M Best as aldermen. Mayor White received the mayoralty nomination and spoke of tax cuts and water funds showing a planned $1000 surplus.

Birrer Wins Public School Contract in Local Board Meeting

Frank P. Birrer of Dillon secured the lowest bid and contract for the new public school building after bids were opened and reviewed by the trustees with architect J. H. Kent present. Several competitors offered alternatives. Birrer’s bid met all specifications and construction begins within a week or two with a September completion target.

Old Pioneer M A Berger Dies in Butte at 73

Michael A Berger longtime Lima merchant and early Montana pioneer died at his Butte home at noon Sunday age 73 after pneumonia followed a brief cold. He came from Cracow to Montana, ferried in Silver Bow and later ran hotels and mercantile business. He is survived by his wife Mary Mantle, a son Michael A Berger Jr and four daughters Maria George H MacDougall Mrs J D McGregor Mrs O C Gosman and Mrs W T Shirey.
