Dillon Youth Murdered in Butte. Suspect At Large

James McLaughlin a Dillon teenager was stabbed to death in Butte last Saturday night. Police suspect a young man known as Red after earlier trouble. motive appears revenge. The crime shocked the community and a search for the killer continues.

Emerson Hills Store Robbery Charged to Florant Dean

Florant T. Dean was arrested in Redrock on a burglary charge following a Saturday night break in at Emerson Hill's general merchandise store. Police found missing cash, revolvers, cutlery, and rings. the staged blacksmith shop tools tied him to the crime with the evidence. Dean pleaded not guilty and was held on a $500 bond with a hearing set for April 14.

Pretty Episcopal Church Wedding in Wisdom Area

Hans Jorgenson a prosperous Big Hole rancher married Miss Amanda Peterson of Wisdom in a Sunday afternoon ceremony at the Episcopal church. Rev Svare officiated with Miss Marion Jorgenson as bridesmaid and John Peterson as best man. A wedding supper at Mrs Nels Nelson's home followed, with many relatives and friends in attendance. The couple will reside at the Jorgenson ranch in the Big Hole.

Wool Industry Prospering In Beaverhead County

Governor White says the sheep industry in Beaverhead County faces a promising season with high wool prices and top quality. Lambing prospects look strong if winter weather stays mild, and contracts are being made early with clips expected near a million pounds. Forty Days for Stealing Coal in Dillon

J P Emery a special coal detective of the Short Line arrested three Dillon men Hiram McKinney James Merrill and Ray Wilton Sunday night for coal theft from a car near the freight depot. Merrill and McKinney pled guilty and paid $5 fines. Wilton received 40 days in jail after a prior record and was remanded to Sheriff Giat.

Rochester Not Dead Yet in Mining District Revival

Special correspondence reports Rochester remains active with seventy five families and ongoing development. Watseca company plans to resume tailings work, a water tank is en route from Butte, and twenty five men may gain work. Mines operated by Jones & Co and others yield ore, ships to Helena, with new shafts and leads being explored near the Alice and Bartma properties.

Quiet City Election Shapes Local Government in Dillon

Dillon held a quiet city election with about 300 votes. Regular nominee W. J. Cushing defeated independent C. W. Conger for police magistrate, with a broad mayoral win for Gov. B. F. White and a new council to organize tonight. City results echoed across Montana with votes for Butte Helena and others.

State Normal College grounds to receive $3000 upgrade

The biennial appropriation bill allocates over $3,000 for grounds improvements at the State Normal College in the next fifteen months. Jno F Bishop fronts the effort with expert advice sought, surveys planned, drainage and leveling to be done, new trees shrubs and flower beds to be added, and work starting next week at the northern end to create employment.
