Ranchers May Kill Game If Property Damaged
Montana supreme court reverses Rathbone verdict in the fish and game case. Rathbone of Augusta had pleaded guilty to killing elk out of season and was fined 200 dollars. The court ruled he should have been allowed to prove at district court that elk from the Sun River herd damaged his pastures and fences. He had previously advertised for machine gunners to kill the elk on his ranch.

Conditions Favorable For 1940 Wool Crop
The agriculture department reports domestic supply conditions remain favorable for marketing the 1940 American wool crop. Although February and March imports were large, the April 1 carryover is expected to be the smallest in recent years. Domestic consumption may exceed 1939 production by about 190 million pounds, with prices for the new crop not yet clear.
