Passenger Train Service Reduced Between Idaho Falls and Butte
Union Pacific has temporarily discontinued part of its Idaho Falls to Butte route due to Office of Defense Transportation coal restrictions reducing coal burning passenger trains by 25 percent. Sheepmen Gather for Parley on Predatory Animals

Two Young Men Hurt In Sunday Car Crash

Mary D Molleur 71 a native of Nissler and longtime southern Montana resident died Saturday at her fox farm home after a year long illness. She lived in Dillon for about 30 years was widow of Dr L F Molleur and leaves a son Frank Reynolds and in law and daughters in law from Butte and Dillon. Funeral services were at 2 pm Wednesday at the Masonic temple Butte with Tirzah temple D Nile members assisting. Interment Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Carl Nelson Dies of Heart Attack in Larsen Cabin
Carl Axel Nelson, 69, a retired ranch worker, was found dead in his Larsen addition cabin Saturday evening. Officer Warren Stone Jr. said death appeared due to a heart attack occurring hours earlier. Born January 9, 1879 in St Mary Kan, he had lived here about 35 years and is survived by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with interment in Mountain View cemetery.

About 200 delegates from the southwest Montana district of FRA covering Deer Lodge Whitehall Sheridan Manhattan Belgrade Bozeman and Big Timber arrive in Dillon Friday for the annual conference at Beaverhead county high school. The program includes public speaking a talent contest poultry egg and meat judging crop identification rifle shooting horseshoe pitching and two basketball games. Early 19th Century Beaverhead Exploration By Ross And Partners
From 1809 to 1824 Beav erhead county had no expeditions then a trapper party led by Alexander Ross of the Hudson Bay company set out from the Selish House near Thompson Falls to explore the southern territory. They followed Hell Gate to the Bitterroot valley and Ross Hole where storms kept them for a month. After melting snows they crossed the Continental divide via Gibbon's pass into the Big Hole basin and noted the hot spring at Jackson. They trapped along Grasshopper Creek before crossing the divide by Lemhi pass and later numerous trading parties crossed Beav erhead. Peter Skene Ogden of the Hudson Bay company passed in 1825 and John Workex appears in 1831-32.

Mrs Sarah A Harroun Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs Sarah Ann Harroun 85 died Tuesday night at Reichle after a brief illness. A Dillon resident over 20 years, she lived in Reichle five years and was born January 2, 1863 in Greencastle Indiana. Survived by son Robert Harroun of Bellville Kansas and daughters Blanche Harper Roundup Ruth Fleming Spokane, sister Maggie Dormer Bellville, Kansas, 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Remains at Brundage funeral home.
