Festival at College Set for April 3
The annual Spring Festival at the college on Saturday April 3 features amateur contests broadcast by KXLF to raise funds for Beaver Lodge and the M club. Events include two broadcasts from 10:30 to 11 and 11 to 12 with entrants from eleven schools the county high school normal college and townspeople. George Weber of Butte arranged the program. Carnival queen candidates will be chosen during the week with a crowning during the festival. The carnival opens at 2:30 with new concessions and booths promised. Joe G White of the Stone Auto Sales sponsors a broadcast and the event is run by the M club and student central committee.

Well Digs Deep to Boost Dillon Water Supply
Wal ter Riddock of Helena completed a 210 foot well near the Herb Wheat ranch west of Dillon. City engineer Sam Ward reports 500 gallons per minute were pumped for six hours with water level stable at 35 feet, confirming a germ free supply two feet above Beaverhead river level. Samples sent to Helena for analysis and bids will be sought to install a pump and connect the reservoir main, aiming for summer use.

James Herbert Hayes 83 died Saturday at Barrett hospital after a short illness. A longtime Dillon resident and former chemist for Beaverhead brewery, he later ran a Birch Creek ranch. Born in England December 20 1864 he worked in Anaconda and Missoula and became naturalized in 1892. Funeral held Tuesday at Brundage chapel with Masonic graveside rites by Dillon Lodge No 16.

Townsend C. Fairbank known as Tom, 67, died Tuesday evening at his East Glendale street home after weeks of critical illness. Born August 27, 1880, in Dodge Center Minnesota he lived in Beaverhead county 40 years, ranched in Centennial valley Armstead and Birch Creek, and managed the Beaverhead Employment Bureau the last three years. He leaves his wife four sons and three daughters in law and five daughters and sons in law plus 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from Brundage chapel with Rev. Lewis D. Smith officiating.

Frank Baril senior longtime Ruby valley pioneer died after a lingering illness at his West Glendale street home. Born October 16 1869 in Portland Oregon he moved to the Ruby valley as a child and lived near Sheridan for decades.
