Beaverhead and Madison to Join Butte Scout Council
Beaverhead and Madison counties will be added to the Butte Boy Scout Council, renaming it Silver Bow council. The move awaits New York approval within 30 days, and will create Montana’s largest council by population, with about 500 Scouts in Silver Bow County. Scout Executive AY Dan Dayton will lead the expanded district as new troops are organized and summer camp plans in Jefferson County proceed. The council recently bought a 159.98 acre site for camp at $8,000 and aims to replace tents with open-front patrol cabins.
