Cost of Legion Paris Pilgrimage Boiled Down

A savings of 5 million dollars is projected for the Paris convention trip of 30,000 American Legion members next September compared with ordinary travel. The plan, led by O C Lampart, cites waivers of passport and visa fees, free ship time, reduced rail fares, and cheaper Legion steamers as the main cost savers. The total per veteran is about 175 dollars, with accommodations on Legion ships costing 145.80 to 230 dollars and including ship access and better service. Free travel across foreign lands and a substantial reduction in landing charges add to the savings, while tours of the continent are offered under the Legion program.
