Winter quarter diplomas awarded at state normal college

Infant Daughter of Beebe Family Buried Friday
Donna Ann, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvyn Beebe, died last Thursday at their home. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Brundage chapel conducted by Rev. J. D. Smith. Interment followed in Mountain View cemetery. The baby was eight days old.

Beaverhead Sheepmen Ship Record Wool in 1929
Beaverhead county sheep men shipped 2,888,945 pounds of wool in 1929, the heaviest since the war, through the First National Wool Warehouse. Eighty cars carried the fleece packed in 8,736 bags, with total receipts of 723,816.72 dollars, about half on consignment. Prices were lower than last year, but Dillon remains Montana's top wool shipping center.

Cattle Market Regains Momentum With Active Shipments
Irvin g Christensen's friends surprised him at his 13th birthday party on his ranch south of town. Beaverhead cattle market grows active with shipments over the past two weeks including 13 carloads of fat cattle to California by E Rude, 3 carloads from Armstead, and 175 head by Martin C Jackson bound for California. J Bailey shipped two carloads of draft horses to Philadelphia. Additional sheep shipments expected late this month as buyers remain active in the Big Hole basin.

Air Cadets Shine at Dillon Meeting with Aerial Contests
Over 100 American Air Cadets and friends filled Dillon city hall for a biweekly air show. Chester Gilbert Jr won best membership plane and tied for first in the ROG racer class with Walter Stephan, while Walter Sperry led the Red Bird class. Promotions to aces went to Fred Wolfe Fred Simons Winn Best Charles Osborne and Frank Tyre as eight cadets qualified as pilots.

Hecla Mine Near Melrose Sold to Utah Firm
The Hecla mine, famous old Hecla property 16 miles west of Melrose, has been sold to the Foundation company of Utah for about half a million dollars. George B. Conway, a mining engineer, announced the sale in Helena, noting the new owners will actively develop the site. Discovered in 1873 by Billy Spurr, the mine has produced nearly 20 million dollars since its opening.

Man Held for Worthless Checks Gets Six Months
John T. Patterson arrested Saturday evening on a charge of writing worthless checks. He was tried in the Justice Court yesterday and sentenced to six months in the county jail after police nabbed him following the checks written on a Twin Bridges bank.

Melrose girl succumbs to brief attack
Margaret M. McIvor, a former Dillon and Melrose resident, died in a Butte hospital after a brief illness caused by infection following mumps. Born in Deer Lodge 19 years ago, she had lived in Dillon and Melrose for 18 years and worked at the Dorothea beauty shop.

Montana to split four districts into two football classes
OZEMAN March 15. The Montana Interscholastic Athletic Association board of control decided to divide the four districts into classes A and B for the next football season. Class B will have two divisions with champions due by November 1, and Class A by November 8. The plan calls for division committees to handle champion determinations and related issues.
