Fire in Highway Building Monday
Firefighters from Dillon volunteer fire department responded to an attic blaze at the Montana highway department building Monday night around 10:30. The fire started in sawdust, burned a roof hole, and was quickly controlled by chemicals. Fire Chief O. T Vandegrift said a cement joint crack in the tile chimney likely caused the fire.

Brother of Mrs. M. Thompson Passes
Edmond E. Graham 43, brother of Mrs. Martin Thompson of Dillon, died February 19 at his Seattle home. He was administrative assistant for the eleventh United States civil service district and served overseas with Company B 149th Machine Gun Battalion in World War II. He has been in government service for 20 years.

Dickinson captured at Alder by officers
Carl Raymond Dickinson, 25, was apprehended at the Williams ranch near Alder last Wednesday night by Sheriff Paul Temple Under sheriff John Troupe Sheriff Lloyd Brooks and FBI head Guy Bannister. He faces trial in Oklahoma for killing a police officer during a running gun battle near Dillon last summer. He had a Nebraska burglary sentence from 1940 and escaped in 1947 amid Dyer Act infractions.

Frank G. Bassett 82, longtime Dillon resident, died Friday morning. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Brundage chapel. Born October 12, 1858 in Leharp Illinois, he moved to Dillon in 1901 and worked as a wool and hides buyer. Survived by wife, two brothers Richard F. in California and Charles in Tulsa.
