Beaverhead County awards printing contract to Examiner
The Examiner Printing Company won Beaverhead County's two year county printing contract after a special commissioners meeting. Their bid beat Tribune Publishing of Dillon and the Lima Ledger. The award followed a prior review of legal points. Plans to remove elk from Yellowstone Park to an area south of Dillon were outlined by the Beaverhead Sportsmen's Association. About 80 elk are planned with over 350 raised toward a 500 goal. A finance committee and easement committee were formed with local officials and ranchers, 56 ranchers have signed easements, and Deputy Game Warden Charles Price will report to state officials. A meeting at City Hall was scheduled for 8 PM tonight.

Roy Forrester led the Dillon Gun Club practice with a 49x50 at the fair grounds traps. Wiant was runner up with 47x50 as a large turnout prepared for the April state postal shoot which the Dillon club has won every year since its founding. Others ranged from 13x25 to 62x75 with Mrs LaBell posting an impressive 19x50 on her first outing with a 20 gauge.

Gargoyles annual winter quarter play was staged Friday evening in the college auditorium. Booth Tarkington's Clarence, a four act comedy, was the choice with Harry Miller in the title role. The cast included Elizabeth Spaford, Francis Tonrey, Jennie Thorsrud, and others under Miss Myrtle Savidge with Gertrude Oliver assisting. Musical numbers featured piano, violin, and vocal items. Two Dillon teams, Westwoods and Gosman's, enter the state independent tournament opening tomorrow in Butte.

Normal Drops To Southern Branch Idaho Tigers
In the final game of the season the Bulldogs lost to the University of Southern Idaho Tigers 52 to 30 at Pocatello. The Tigers earned their 24th straight win, with noted victories over Wyoming and Brigham Young. Normal led 17 to 12 at halftime as their zone defense limited the Southerners early, though the late pressure waned.

Amanda Giudici longtime Beaverhead Valley resident died in a Butte hospital after an operation. Born in 1867 in Germany she came to America as a young woman and settled in Montana in 1890. Survived by three daughters and three sons, funeral at 2:30 PM Thursday at the Episcopal church.

Two local veterans John Wenger and Paul O Cash will receive the congressional Order of the Purple Heart at a Dillon Post Legion session tomorrow night at the Canyon Resort. They served in France with the 91st Division and were wounded. The ceremony will include the award presentation and a 75 cent banquet at 6 30 pm with notice requested to Commander T Lee Mc Cracken or Adjutant George KR Baker for seating.
