Amede Bessette a prominent Bannack pioneer and interpreter who helped settle the area died at his Beaverhead home at 79. Born in Quebec he joined the 1863 Bannack migration with his brother Levi and later owned mines in Blue Wing and Elkhorn. Funeral was held in Bannack with burial beside old-time friends as he wished.

Two Divorces Granted At Recent Court Term
Judge Clark presided as Oscar Garner and Bonnie Garner were granted a divorce on desertion grounds. T. J. Powell received a divorce from Hattie Powell for the same reason. D. E. Tait’s stay of execution was revoked and he is to serve two to four years in the state prison. Roe Raymond was committed for insanity to Warm Springs after examination by doctors and removal by the sheriff.

Spokane cattle firm with 17 000 acre stock ranch near Wisdom sold 229 steers to Butte buyers at 11 cents on the ranch. Average weight 1100 pounds, price 123 each or 28 167 for the lot. The funeral of William Burnett who died in Yakami Washington was held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church and interment was made in the family lot at Mountain View cemetery. Relatives came from Nevada and Anaconda to attend. He was a Beaverhead county pioneer.
